Hurry and Wait-- UPDATE

UPDATED AT THE BOTTOM!
One of the strangest things about being a Navy Family is that you never really know where you are going to live 6 months from now. Sometimes you can be reasonably sure, but a lot of times things can change in an instant. I learned a long time ago to live my life anyway, make plans, make friends and roll with the punches. It's too hard to live on pins and needles not knowing what the future holds.

This week we are waiting for promotion results. And waiting, and waiting.... They are taking their sweet time posting them, when we know the board dismissed 2 weeks ago. I am compulsively checking two different websites that will have results posted about 5 times a day. What does a promotion mean to us? Besides the little pay grade increase, it may mean another move. Not a move next year sometime, a move this summer. Who knows where to or what his new job will entail. What does the future hold? Who knows, but I have to put my faith in my loving Heavenly Father who will take care of us from any corner of the world. Ah, the life of a Navy Family. Will keep you posted.

UPDATE: the list is out. His name isn't on it this time around. Not that he's not qualified, just that other people were too. There are only so many spaces for lots of people. Maybe next year. The good news is, we are in WA for another year. Yeah!

Miss Independence

I have always known my daughter would be strong willed and independent. From the time I was 29 weeks pregnant and started into labor, I knew I had a fighter.

Now she is 2. I know that 2 year olds have to test the limits, try new things and learn at an amazing speed. My two year old is just the same. Her favorite phrase these days is "All by myself."

Putting on shoes, "all by myself", getting undressed, "all by myself", jumping on the trampoline, going to bed, brushing teeth, getting a banana, opening the fridge, getting in and out of the car, "all by myself".

All of the sudden my daily routine takes a lot longer to accomplish. That's okay, though, I am fostering Independence. She is learning to do things on her own, figure out a way around a problem, and practice her every growing vocabulary. Patience never was my strong suit, but it's worth it to see her grow and develop these skills.

Lesson Learned- Again

Today I was reminded about a wonderful life lesson. Funny how we have to keep getting lessons in life. Reminders are good.

I had just returned from the gym and gotten Meg down for a nap and was loading the dishwasher when I looked outside and saw that it was once again raining. Not just raining, but really raining. The next time I looked up there was someone in my yard with a weed eater, going around the garden beds. It was my sweet home teacher. I went outside and caught his attention and asked him if he’s seen the weather forecast. He just laughed at me, said “If you didn’t do anything because of the rain around here, you would never do anything at all.” And then he went back to work. My yard was a mess, because I haven’t mowed it since Justin left. Home Teacher was here for about an hour, mowing and trimming and cleaning up. He never came in, never said much more than that, just went back to work and went home to dry off I suppose.

What a sweet man, and a sweet lesson. If you never did anything because it was hard, or inconvenient, what would you get done? How would you grow and progress? How would you learn new things, develop new skills and share your talents? That was the perfect lesson for me this month. Consider Home Teaching done. And thank you for taking care of me.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

I love being a mom. It has been my ambition in life since I was 5. It took me a long time to get there, but I am grateful every day, even the bad ones, that I have children in my life.

Being a Mom is hard. I love that I have so many good examples around me to help me through the journey. I have learned to be a little more patient, go with the flow and most of all, make nap time a priority (for the short ones). I have learned that once in a while, if your kid eats only cereal and fruit snacks all day, that's OK. Potty training tries every ones patience and the best way to do it is just to do it. That goes for a lot of other things with kids too. I am so glad of the examples of my mother, mother-in-law and grandmothers who have paved the way for me. If they can endure their trials and joys of motherhood, so can I. Especially if I have their love and support to help me on my way. Thanks to all the Mom's out there. You really are impacting the world in ways you can't imagine.
