Cherry Sweet

In our little apartment here in Paradise, down the street from my mom, there is a golden raspberry bush outside the door. Baby has decided that it's his personal snack bar. Every time we go outside he either makes a beeline for the bush or the tractor if it's in sight. Baby paradise.
Over the past few days we have gotten just about all of the ripe berries off of the raspberry bush that we can. Today he noticed the cherries for the first time. The orchard is wonderful to wander around in and the trees make him happy but today the cherries actually got his attention. He snagged one and gobbled it down before I could reach for it, pit and all. Then he went for another one and laughed as his little face was covered in cherry juice. It made me smile.
Now I need to keep him away from the trees for a few more days, until the cherries are harvested. Maybe they can bring the tractor back.

Dirt + water= fun

5 Neighborhood kids + gardening spades + dirt + a well connected hose = tons of summer fun.

Good Clean Fun

What's Summer without running in the water in the backyard? It's been hot here, and we don't have AC in the house. There's only so much our old rickety fans can do. This hot afternoon Dad convinced the kids to come and play. It wasn't really that hard as they are always up for fun with water. What's better than good, clean, family fun? Ignoring the neighborhood water restrictions, that's what. I certainly hope this is one of those precious memories my kids conjure up one day when they are far away and needing to feel the strength of family.

Catching Up

It's been a while since I have updated my blog. Things have been crazy. And I thought I was supposed to be slowing down. {Sigh.} Someday, I have high hopes, of being able to lounge around or at the very least not having 3 events in one day.

In any case, here's a quick run down of our summer so far.

Waterfighting with cousins.

Soccer camp.

Landscaping the back yard.

4th of July festivities.

Having a fun date night. (more to come on that one.)
Also this summer: I have been able to take some pictures of some super cute kids (besides my own), visit grandparents, park days with friends, tend our new grass, catch up on laundry, and Bug with bronchitis. Still to come this summer: Cub scout camp, camping with grandpa, getting new orders for our transistion in March, summer library days with the Juggling guy and Reptile Man, hosting 3 little friends for a week and so much more. We might even try and fit in a trip to the zoo. We might be the zoo by the end of the summer.
